Some people are beginning to think that public funding for drug rehab programs is a waste of tax dollars. The fact is, lifelong recovery from alcohol and drug addiction is almost a certainty when drug rehab is done right.

The public's lack of trust in drug rehab programs is leading to some dangerously bad ideas, such as putting people addicted to alcohol or drugs on some other drug, or worse, legalizing drugs. These are not solutions, they are problems masquerading as solutions. The call for legalization of drugs is the most compelling evidence that drug rehab is basically a hit-or-miss failure in many, if not most, settings. This is total surrender, a complete capitulation to the power of drugs. It says, "Okay, drugs. You win. Come on in and rule our lives because there's nothing we can do about you."

Putting heroin addicts on methadone is another testament to the failure of most approaches to rehab. Methadone "replacement therapy" is entrenched across the country and around the world. Addicts remain addicted to a "legal" drug instead of an illegal one. The idea of getting free of drugs has simply been abandoned. The thought process that leads to this non-solution is, "Drug rehab probably won't work, and it's going to be too much trouble to try to save this person anyway. At least they won't share contaminated needles and they might get some of their life back. Of course, they're addicted to this drug now, but what else can we do about it?"

Another example of "replacement therapy" is putting drug addicts, and especially alcoholics, on addiction-blocking drugs such as naltrexone. This drug prevents the brain's receptors from responding to opiate drugs and alcohol, and actually works for a while to reduce the craving for the substance. Sounds good, right? The problem is, naltrexone blocks all pleasure responses. Life just turns gray and isn't really worth living. And worse, it can increase the possibility of an opiate overdose, which can be fatal.

In any of these kinds of situations, we are simply trading one drug (and often a new addiction) for another. This makes the pharmaceutical companies happy, but it does not achieve any kind of rehabilitation for the addicted persons. So why are we not putting unfortunate drug-dependent people through drug rehab programs? The answer is clear - many programs have abysmal success rates. They don't have all the elements in place that can make drug rehab successful.

The drug rehab program you choose should empower you, so that you accomplish life long freedom from drug use. It should take you through detox and withdrawal and ensure that you repair the damage drugs have done to your life. It puts you back in control and functioning in society again - enjoying good family relationships, holding down a job and living a successful drug-free life.

All drug rehab programs are not created equal. There are drug rehab centers that successfully address all the issues. If you or someone you care about needs help with alcohol or drug addiction, contact a drug rehab program counselor who knows what works and can help you find a successful drug rehab program.

http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Teen Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Addiction, Signs and Treatments

The teenage years are among the toughest, so many changes and discoveries. Try to remember your teenage years while dealing with your teenager. Drugs and alcohol are a situation that all teens face and most will experiment. Wondering whether or not your teen is abusing drugs or alcohol can be stressful. If you think your teen may be experimenting with drugs and alcohol but don't know how to deal with it, the first thing to do is make sure this is the problem your teen is facing. Some signs that your teen may be experimenting with drugs and alcohol include:

~Dramatic Mood Swings~

Teenagers all have normal mood swings. But look for more dramatic changes -- like happy and full of energy one minute and then withdrawal, sadness, or fits of rage.

No one knows your child like you do but during these times you can feel like you don't know them at all.

~Does your teen have new friends?~

Teens often hang out with teens that are into the same things they are. If your teen has suddenly ditched his/her old friend for newer maybe older one it is a good sign that they may be using.

~Acting out in school~

Has your teens grades dropped recently? Has their attitude towards school changed? Cutting class, fighting, and generally acting out are signs that they might be using.

~Attitude and health~

Is there a change in appetite, or sleep patterns? Is your teen being openly dishonest and defiant? Has alcohol come up missing in your home? How about the medicine cabinet? Have you smelled cigarettes or alcohol on his/her breath? Is your teen using a lot of breath mints lately? Have they changed how they dress or do their hair? Have you suspected that your teen might be drunk or on something? Any slurred speech, stumbling, Or bloodshot eyes?

~Family~

Has anyone close to you mentioned that they think your teen may be using? Even if it's only one person, it's enough to investigate further.Teens will try to hide their drug and alcohol abuse from you.

No parent want to see their kids in this situation. We all as parents want only the best for them. Being faced with a teen that is using drugs and alcohol, can seem very overwhelming. How do you handle this? Is there help? Many parents deal with this problem everyday. There is help! Sometimes the solution varies, depending on your situation.

Sometimes, just talking to your teen can help. Be understanding, and try to remember how tough this age is, but let them know that you will not tolerate this behavior. Let them know that you are here to help and that they can trust you to always be there for them. Tell them the consequences of abusing drugs and alcohol, even if they already know them, sometimes hearing you say it can make all the difference.

If simply talking to your teen doesn't work then maybe a teen intervention is in order. It is one thing to hear one person who loves you ask you to stop your behavior, but, quite another to have everyone who loves you ask.

There is a difference between a teen who is experimenting with drugs and alcohol and a teen who is addicted to them.

Teen drug addiction can be harder to deal with. Again, the situation varies. Some parents turn to a support center, places designed to help you deal with your out of control teen, drug abuse counseling is an alternative to look into. Sadly, with all they are going through it can be hard for teens to talk to their parents, they may feel more comfortable talking to a stranger. With counseling at least you can pick the stranger they talk to.

Some parents take a firmer stand and send their teen to a teen drug rehab. There are many rehab centers available. Do some research, find the top rehab program.

The important thing is to get your teen treatment, whether your teen needs alcohol treatment or teen drug treatment, it's your job as a parent to help them through this.

http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Drug Rehab Programs That Work and Their Stats

Drug and alcohol addiction ruins families. The majority of calls I get are from the loved ones of drug & alcohol abusers, not the abusers themselves. Parents, spouses and kids of abusers suffer more. They're the ones calling for help.

As an aid to the people I work for, here is a study I've done on rehab programs, their costs and posted effectiveness.

First a clarification of rehab programs:

95% of rehab centers follow a 12 Step / medical approach to rehab; aka "you've got a disease, accept it and we can help you mitigate the problems"

5% use Social Educational, alternative, self help, empowerment, psycho-social-behavioral methods of recovery

The national average success rate in the US and Canada is around 22%. This is lower in my hometown (10%) according to our past mayor

Why is this significant? For those of you strong in math, you'll quickly realize that the majority of rehab programs or traditional rehab, is getting a majority of rehab clients relapsing back to abuse with 75% + returning back to abusive practices. I believe the term 'spin dry' came about due to this fact.

What about the remaining 5% of rehab program methods?

I've made a listing of some of their posted success rates and costs. By the way, I believe in focusing on what works and have made it my career to find alternative (non-12 Step and non-medical) programs that actually end addiction.

If you're looking for results, then we are both on the same page.

4 Rehab Programs or Strategies That Work

Emergency room use of Brief Interventions and CAGE (see "Drug Addiction Tests You Can Do Right Now" Palatinus) reduced damage to individuals by 47% (6 months). These intervention approaches are usually done by professionals, doctors and therapists

Motivational Interviewing, a method of Social Educational rehab, is showing promise

Bio-physical combined with Social Educational or lifestyle modification approaches. These get 70% to 90% long term success. Usually take 1 to 6 months on average. Prices range from $6,000 to $18,000 per month

Alternative, results oriented 'high end' rehab centers. Costs are $40,000 + per month, gets 70% to 80% long term recovery

So Why Aren't More People Using These Methods?

Centers either don't make a lot of money for the centers or therapists and don't promote internally enough aka 'lobbyists'; or the centers are available to those of higher income levels only. Being the new guys on the block, not often funded by health plans et al, both types are relatively unknown.

People in crisis don't often think rationally. I'm talking now about families in the crisis of drug or alcohol abusing loved ones. States of shock can last longer than many would suspect. Some are in shock for years following a crisis.

The lesson to learn here is: Realize you're in a tough time if you've got a loved one abusing drugs / alcohol. This will one day pass, but can you afford the cost of doing nothing or the same thing and getting similar results?

Drug rehab programs work if done correctly. Professionals in rehab, especially those unbiased to traditional methods of recovery, 'because that's how they recovered', can greatly improve your chances of having a happy conclusion to treatment.

http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Drug Rehabilitation - Treatment Methods

Are you finding some information about the treatment methods which are used in drug rehabilitation centers? Drug addiction can be treated effectively. A drug addict can return to normal social life. A patient has to go under couple of therapies. The treatment not only contains medications but also behavioral therapy.

Almost every patient experiences withdrawal symptoms during the treatment. Withdrawal symptoms can be suppressed with the help of special medications. Some patients should stay in the treatment for a long time. The duration can vary from three to six months. Significant results are reported after a six months intensive treatment.

The goal of all the treatment programs is same. The programs are designed to help the patient to get rid of addiction. There are two main types of treatment programs which are practiced worldwide. The first one is short term and second one is long term. The three main components of a short term therapy are residential therapy, medication therapy and outpatient therapy. On the other hand long term therapy may include methadone maintenance outpatient treatment for opiate addicts and residential therapeutic community treatment.

Long term therapy is most commonly used in treating the heroin addicts. The patient is given an oral dose of a synthetic opiate. In many cases it is methadone. The dose is adjusted according to the severity of the addiction. Sufficient dose can block the effects of heroin. After appropriate treatment a stable state can be maintained.

After successful medicinal treatment the patient should go under various programs. Nowadays you can easily find specialized therapeutic communities. These are highly structured programs in which the addicts have to stay at a residence according to some strict guidelines.

A lot of efforts are being made to get rid of addiction problems. Drug abuse is having a bad effect on every sphere of the society. A big amount of money is spent every year. A lot of money can be saved if the patients will be diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. According to latest reports the number of addicts seeking help is increasing every year. Specially designed rehabilitation centers can help a lot in solving this problem.

http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Drug Rehab Chronicles - Alcohol Addiction Can Strike Anyone, Even a Genius

For every person who needs a successful alcohol and drug rehab program, there are millions who never get started. Charlie Frazer was one of them.

A popular jazz musician, Charlie, was a friendly and outgoing young man without the huge ego one expects of a truly talented player. Charlie was generous with himself and his talents, sharing musical insights and advice with musicians and fans who frequented the jazz clubs where he played bass with a popular quintet. And as local custom dictates, Charlie's admirers rewarded him with rounds of drinks. And Charlie always accepted, and drank, and drank and drank. No one suspected that Charlie was unusually sensitive to alcohol, and had his own private demons as well - a prime candidate for alcohol addiction and abuse. Nor did they suspect how badly he needed to admit himself into an alcohol and drug rehab program.

His band members were the first to notice it. Slight lapses in memory, sloppy playing, coming late to the job. Charlie assured them it was just a couple of shots to relax, not to worry. But his bass playing got worse, and his relationship with the guys in the band deteriorated. There were arguments, promises and apologies - but nothing got resolved. Charlie drank afternoons, evenings and through to dawn. When his mates suggested an alcohol and drug rehab program to help with his obvious alcohol abuse, Charlie laughed it off, insisting there was no need for anything so serious.

Alcoholics are self-delusional about their alcohol addiction and abuse. In fact, that's one of the major reasons they don't enter alcohol or drug rehab to get help. It can take a lot to break through the veneer of lies and deception and see the real situation. For Charlie, the opportunity for such a moment of truth came on opening night at the city's most prestigious jazz venue, the Jazz Tavern, the band's most important gig to date. Everyone who was anyone in the jazz world was there - famous musicians, critics from the media, a movie star or two and dozens of fans. Predictably, Charlie arrived drunk, and the band warily launched into the first number. During the second chorus, everything unraveled. While patrons watched in horror, Charlie staggered, fell off the stage, and crash-landed in the center of a ringside table, out cold and still holding his bass. The shocked audience didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

No one at the table was injured, and Charlie revived enough to be led outside and sent home in a cab. After the dust settled, a local bass player in the audience stepped up and finished the gig - not a total loss. But for the band, and especially for Charlie, the shine was off the gold.

Over the next few days, band mates, friends and family urged Charlie to get into an alcohol and drug rehab program. But Charlie's moment of truth had come and gone, unrecognized. He brushed it all off as a hugely amusing, if unfortunate, incident, and kept on drinking. Within weeks, the band had broken up. Charlie found it difficult to get work. A few shorts months later, Charlie could be found in the seedier sections of the city panhandling for money, or hanging around jazz clubs hoping to score a few dollars for booze.

Within a year or two, not many jazz fans remembered Charlie Frazer. His fellow musicians talked about him in the past tense, as if he had died. And in fact, as a musician, he had. Working part-time in construction, drinking every night and still denying to himself and anyone who cared to listen that he had a problem, Charlie Frazer had become another tragic statistic, a victim of alcohol abuse. And another person who's future would have been far different had he gone to a successful alcohol and drug rehab program.
http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Looking For Los Angeles Drug Rehab Centers

Have you check out the following Los Angeles drug rehab centers? - Addiction Therapists of Los Angeles which offers outpatient therapy treatment for drug, alcohol and other addictions. When addicts admit themselves, or are forcibly admitted, to drug addiction rehabilitation facilities, their physical conditions are evaluated so that an appropriate treatment can be determined. There are different drug addiction rehabilitation programs designed to treat the different levels of addiction.

Outpatient Treatmenr and Detox There are, at the lowest level of drug addiction rehabilitation, intervention and short duration programs, which do not involve any physical treatment. They include court-ordered attendance at classes on the dangers of driving while intoxicated or visits to rehab units for teens caught using drugs or alcohol who has not yet become addicts. They are designed to steer people off the road to addiction before they have traveled to far down it.

Detoxification is the second level of drug addiction rehabilitation; just the opposite of short-term intervention, detoxification treats only the physical nature of addiction. The addict is admitted to a facility, remains until he or she is free of the effects of whatever substances caused the admission, and is released.

Inpatient Treatment The most comprehensive of all the drug addiction rehabilitation programs is inpatient treatment. Inpatient drug addiction rehabilitation requires addicts to take up residence in the facility where they receive their treatment, and the amount of time they stay will depend on how hard they work on confronting their addictions and learning healthier patterns of behavior.

Inpatient drug addiction rehabilitation will first include detoxification, with or without the use of sedatives and pain medications; their inclusion will depend both on whether the addict's system can handle any more chemicals, and whether those running the program believe going "cold turkey" when withdrawing is the best deterrent to future substance abuse.

Once the detoxification is over, the addicts will spend their days learning to take responsibility by having jobs assigned to them; going to individual and group counseling sessions, and getting at the emotional causes underlying their dependencies. The process can last for a month of for a year, depending on the severity of the addiction. Inpatient drug addiction rehabilitation is a last resort.

Therapeutic techniques in inpatient facilities may include journaling so that the addicts can learn both self-observation skills and how to recognize the situations in which their cravings for drugs are triggered.
Choosing the appropriate drug addiction rehabilitation is a matter of balancing the severity of the addiction with the addict's desire for recovery.

Technorati tags: rehab drug rehab Ron
Paul ron paul Galilea Montijo galilea montijo murray waas RailsConf railsconf youtube gtd myspace popfly paris hilton bebo mario lopez immigration wolfowitz aquantive joost videos starcraft starcraft 2 michael buble
http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Drug and Alcohol Rehab

Rehabilitation from drug addiction is a complex process. It involves commitment from the individual addict to abstain from further drug use. The physical dependence on the drug needs to be overcome through medical intervention. Medical supervision is essential to safely detoxify an addicted individual. Safety is an issue since sudden withdrawal of a drug will lead to very profound physiological changes that can be very uncomfortable and can sometimes be life threatening. The range of drugs abused is wide but general principles apply to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

After the medical detoxification process, which is often in an inpatient setting, a program to continue the rehab process as an outpatient is essential. Sometimes replacement drugs are needed such as methadone maintenance programs where patients are given methadone to replace the heroin that is abused. The methadone helps prevent the euphoria and at the same time decreases the craving that is central to addiction. A typical dose that may work is 30-60 milligrams of methadone daily but this is variable and depends on the intensity of addiction among other factors. Alcohol rehab often involves an acute hospital based detoxification where a thorough medical assessment is done and then drugs belonging to the class called benzodiazepines are given to prevent withdrawal. Medical issues are often the main reason an addict enters a treatment entry point.

After this acute phase an outpatient 12 step program such as Alcoholics Anonymous is critical to maintain abstinence. Many patients who are addicted to drugs have co-morbid psychiatric conditions like depression that need to be addressed. Others have HIV/AIDS, which also need to be managed if a lasting solution is needed. Many rehab programs are covered by insurance and charity. They also have social workers who will help with the practical aspects of getting back to a productive life.

Above all, the commitment of the individuals working in the program helps sustain and develop faith and trust in the system since addicts are often marginalized members of society.

Drug Rehab provides detailed information on Drug Rehab, Drug Rehab Programs, Drug Rehab Centers, Drug And Alcohol Rehab and more. Fantastic. Finding out who the regulars are, which girls are new to it, who sells the best stuff, who sells the junk, and realizing that my dreams can come true! Fun/exciting! Life is good, even if my GPA went from a 3.3 to a 1.6. I feel more confident and am much more experienced then I was six months ago. Finally finished school, working at a job and I have my own place to live. I finally have the freedom to do whatever I want to do. It is true that some of the people at the clubs are total jerks, they will rip you off in a heartbeat and some are just creepy roofie predators. All they want to do is find naive girls, drug them, put them in their car, and take them to who knows where to do who knows what. Others sell you junk and others well I just always seem to owe them. Hey, what can you do they're connected to the club, gangs, cartels, mob you know what I mean. What can I do about it? I do not want to end up dead. Besides many people there really like me, even the rip-offs and predators. The only down side is now that I pay my own bills, it is sometimes hard to have enough cash for the clubs. Some nights I can sell a little and turn a profit to get me through. The most fearful sight I ever saw was the blue lights in my rearview mirror. It is amazing how just that one thing (DUI Driving under the influence) affected my life. I lost my license; it added 1 1/2 to 2 hours to commute to work using mass transit. Now I have to depend on my friends and taxis to get to and from the clubs. In addition, it is so much harder to get a girl to come home with you when you do not have your own car. It can be a little embarrassing explaining to the cab driver that it is all right, I am just taking her home to sleep it off. All I am really thinking about is that any minute she just might tell the cab driver she does not even know who I am and that she does not live at this address. Or maybe she will say to the cab driver "What am I doing here? Please help me!" I guess I just highlighted what I have become, an abuser of both drugs and women. Now that I look back on it, the club drug lifestyle has lead to a long chain of embarrassing, self centered, stupid and mean acts. Public urination, hey, it is not as if I have a prostate problem or overactive bladder, I was completely oblivious, not a clue where and what I was doing. Vomiting on the dance floor, public toilets, alley, out the car window (messy and smelly), learning my lesson and opening the car door to vomit. It is not that I can remember all of my hurling episodes; it is simply that people have told me days and months later about them (what a rep). Getting into a fight because I sold some bad stuff. Having relapses of guilt because I might have been the one to sell my friend some ketamine the night he was killed driving home. Having a girl tell me that I gave her an STD (sexually transmitted disease) which sent me off to the doctor quickly. Then getting the results back that I did not have any STDs. However thinking for those few days that I did have an STD made me realize that the club drug lifestyle, next to prostitution, is probably the surest way to catch an STD. Almost losing my job because I kept over sleeping, coming to work late, and calling in sick due to the lack of sleep the previous night. Almost going to jail for possession with intent to sell. Then there was the constant problem of collecting money from people that owed and getting money to pay those I owed. Even with this litany of demeaning and dangerous behavior, all I could think about was getting high and getting women. As time went on two things started to happen more frequently. 1) I would get tired and bored with it all and 2) I saw the odds of my life turning very tragic mounting against me. The high was not the same and the women I was with never amounted to anything due to what I had become. I figured so far I have been very lucky because by now I have not gone to prison, been killed in an accident or murdered by dealers, lost my job or caught STDs. Since it was not the first time I had come to this conclusion I decided to do it the right way. Therefore, I went to a drug rehabilitation center. There they had the people I could relate to who had the answers and the resources to change my lifestyle so I would not fall back into the vicious club drug lifestyle cycle again. At first, it was the fear of going back to my old ways that keep me on the straight and narrow but once I started feeling comfortable with my new life, I started to become interested in new things and new people. With help and some resources, I could have a very satisfying and happy life. But that is not what made the club drug rehabilitation priceless. That came later on. When I met the love of my life and learned when two people give to each other selflessly the desire for each other grows and grows incredibly strong. I have had children who have been thoughtful of others, made the right decisions, worked very hard, and become successful. While there are other things that fill my life, it is my family that has made me see that the club drug rehab was priceless.

About the Author

Transitions Recovery is a nationally accredited, state-licensed drug and alcohol rehabilitation service provider with drug treatment and alcohol addiction treatment facilities based in North Miami Beach, Florida.

Technorati tags: rehab drug rehab Ron
Paul ron paul Galilea Montijo galilea montijo murray waas RailsConf railsconf youtube gtd myspace popfly paris hilton bebo mario lopez immigration wolfowitz aquantive joost videos starcraft starcraft 2 michael buble
http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

To What Extent Will Drug Rehab Go?

Drug Rehab

Let us begin with the definition of drug rehabilitation: Drug rehabilitation or therapy is a procedure. In most instances persons will be admitted into a stay at a medical unit/facility and will go through a succession of examinations, tests, questions, analyses etc., etc. Now although these people undergo a phalanx of questions and tests, in the end, the ultimate aim is to help the patient to purge their bodies of the toxic drugs that at one time impaired their judgment and ability to function appropriately and also to subsequently permit them regain control of their lives, thereby allowing them full realization that toxic drugs are unimportant, unnecessary and bad/harmful.

Guess what? A good drug rehab program will centers strongly not only on the mind but also on the physical issues surrounding the breaking of an addiction. Fundamentally important to an excellent drug rehab procedure is a good and meticulous drug detoxification program.

Needless to mention but important nonetheless is the fact that drug rehab is not enjoyable. It is not a stroll in the playground. It can be the most taxing aspects of anybody’s life. It is difficult for people who have had no reason to deal with it to understand it. Also difficult is explaining to that guy who is hooked on drugs or that girl taking her first hit what it will entail to desist later on and to check into drug rehab. The point though is that however you may want to see it…drug rehab is effective!

Guess what? Most times, the issue isn’t whether or not drug rehab will be effective for the individual but whether or not the individual will be committed to the recommended rigorous and, often times, regimented procedure.

Drug rehab will in most cases be powerful for the persons. Initially the person will need to be committed to the programme but at times they can be mandated by their relatives or ordered into rehab by a judge. Nevertheless, the true healing process does not begin until after they commit to being clean. The following are a few issues that drug rehab deals with:

- The first concern is how to get the drugs out of your body. From outside, this tends to look easy, but because you body has gotten used to the drugs, it craves it thereby creating the “withdrawal syndrome” which is very, very, very, uncomfortable (to put it mildly!). Addiction is DIFFICULT to get through. In fact, most patients may end up needing external physical help as well as need restraints placed on them so as to remove the danger of them hurting themselves.

- While this is going on, patients will need to cooperate with doctors and counselors to better come to terms with the real reason why they began taking drugs in the first place so that they can work through those problems to limit the possibility of relapse.

- The rehab center will need to organize group sessions so as to allow family members and relatives meet with the patients to help them and reintroduce them to each other.

- Examinations, tests and screenings from time to time, will help patients to realize the distance that they have covered and also how far they have achieved.

- Also, therapy involving other drug rehab patients helps the patients rebuild their lives.

Guess what? Whatever the case may be, whether you seek help for yourself or a loved one, just remember that where there is life there is hope and also that whatever the mind can conceive and believe – It WILL achieve! It is possible to break drug addiction!

Tywford Lamai is an expert on issues pertaining to Drug Rehabilitation.

To effortlessly discover a lifetime of amazing Drug Rehab secrets,

tips and resources please visit: http://www.cri8tivdrugs.blogspot.com/

Drug Rehab
http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Discover The Benefits Of A Drug Rehab Program

Drug Rehab

You already know that a drug addiction is not a good thing. Whether it is prescription drugs where the addiction came on accidentally as a result of legally prescribed medications to treat something, or whether it is the illegal street drugs that are purchased on back alleys or dark basements, drug addiction is something that needs to be addressed.

Frequently, the addicted person cannot see the addiction, or writes it off to just being one of those things that they require in their life. But addiction to anything, whether alcohol, drugs, cigarettes/nicotine, or virtually anything else is not healthy, and in the case of alcohol and drugs, can be life threatening. If you love someone who is an addict, the best thing you can do for them is to get them into an alcohol rehab program or a drug rehab program for their own benefit.

The hardest thing about the whole process is to get the addict to realize, understand, and accept the fact that they are an addict. The vast majority of addicts do not realize this, and until they realize it, you are going to be pushing and pulling them into rehab, instead of them going willingly. There are alcohol and drug counselors who can help you with this task by talking with that person, and these services are often city, state, or county sponsored and are therefore at minimal or no cost.

There are multiple levels to a drug rehab program or an alcohol rehab program. Some programs merely scrape the surface and focus on detox, where they work to get the chemicals out of the body of the addict. While this is certainly a step in the right direction, it is often not the whole story. Other programs take the next step, which includes detox but also includes getting to the underlying reason why the addict feels that the alcohol or drugs are necessary. It might be due to the collapse of a marriage, loss of a job, a dire financial situation, or a host of other reasons, but the trained professional will work with that person to help them understand that the alcohol or drugs are not a solution to the problem, and in fact make the problem even worse.

If someone you love is addicted to drugs or alcohol, you need to get them to talk with a counselor about it, with the end goal being to get them into a good alcohol rehab program or drug rehab program. There is virtually nothing worse than watching someone you love destroy their own lives, and if they cannot see the damage they are doing, then it is something that you can do for them for their ultimate good.

Need more information about Drug Rehab Programs? We know there is a high incidence of drug addiction and alcoholism within the gay community, but there are few if any gay friendly drug rehabs in New York or New Jersey for effective treatment.

Gay Friendly Drug Rehab in Florida

By gay friendly we refer to a drug rehab program that has addiction treatment staff trained to address some issues specific to the gay population. While it is true that the gay man or woman is no different than a heterosexual man or woman, the LGBT do live lifestyles and have issues to resolve that are uncommon to the heterosexual population. This being said, all a gay friendly drug rehab need have are addiction treatment staff trained to help a member of the LGBT community work through coming out or internalized homophobia. You would be surprised how many people that work in a drug rehab have never heard of internalized homophobia.

Many of the LGBT population in New York seem to travel to a drug rehab in Florida that would be described as gay friendly. Whether a drug rehab in Florida or a New York drug rehab, a patient has to feel safe in order to derive the greatest benefit from their drug rehab experience. When choosing a Florida drug rehab or New York drug rehab, do your homework.

Make sure the Florida drug rehab or New York drug rehab is properly licensed and credentialed. If you are looking for a gay friendly drug rehab, inquire into the LGBT friendly addiction treatment services that are offered. If you require additional information on a New York drug rehab or Florida drug rehab, please call the national addiction treatment helpline at 1-800-511-9225 and I am sure they will be able to help you.

Jonathan Huttner is one of the founders of a national addiction treatment helpline 1-800-511-9225, which can help you locate effective treatment anywhere in the United States.

Drug Rehab
http://drug-rehab-123.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Durg Rehab

Please learn more about our one-of-a-kind Drug Treatment Program.

Drug addiction remains the number one health problem in America. It effects all levels of American society, robbing the nation of its most talented minds, and poisoning our culture. What so many people have yet to realize is that a cure exists.

Unfortunately, the treatment methods for drug addiction that are prescribed by most substance abuse treatment facilities is the old-fashioned group meeting approach. Yet as anyone who has gone through a drug problem knows, the experiences which lead to drug use are often highly personal and involved. Those who develop substance abuse dependencies are self-medicating due to extremely personal circumstances. It is very difficult to parse out the specifics of an addiction problem in the context of a group. Even worse, many who complete popular rehabilitation programs often relapse within months, weeks or even days after returning home. Many have asked themselves, "What can be done to create a permanent sobriety?"

At Passages we do not subscribe to the one-size-fits-all treatment program. What this means is that you will not have to sit in group meetings all day long and listen to the same old stories. Instead, what the clients at Passages do get is a tremendous amount of one-on-one treatment with professionals that are the best in the country. Each client receives an astonishing 80 individuals sessions per month!

The Importance of Personal Attention in Drug RehabPassages Malibu is an alcohol and drug treatment center where people come to receive professional, thorough alcohol and drug rehabilitation in a private, one-on-one setting. Just as there are various levels of use of mood altering drugs, there are various levels of treatment available. Within each clarification there are variances of cost, and length of treatment. Here are some levels of care and examples of what may be appropriate for a situation.

Brief Therapy/Intervention - This is usually a very short duration program, but can be very effective. Perhaps a person who really is not involved with alcohol over does it one time on a birthday or New Years and is caught on their first DUI. They may be mandated to attend alcohol classes where education is provided for a few weeks.

Detoxification - The idea that detox is drug treatment is a common misconception. The purpose of a 'Detox' is to safely monitor and de-escalate an incident of intoxification. Generally, as soon as you are medically stable (which is not recovery treatment) you are dismissed from the hospital or facility. Supervised detox is recommended for long term alcohol or benzodiazepine (Xanax, Ambien etc) users as the risk of seizures exists. This may be a required first step before entering treatment.

Outpatient Program - This is non-residential treatment usually consisting of attending a therapy group and/or individual counseling once or twice/week. This may be appropriate for a person whose use is starting to cause problems, but is not yet dependent

Intensive Outpatient Program - This is non residential but generally consists of 16-20 hours of group and individual therapy per week. Insurance is more likely to cover this form of treatment rather than inpatient treatment. This is less costly than residential, but is appropriate for a person with full dependency. Outpatient programs may be used as a 'step down' after completing residential treatment

Inpatient Treatment - This is your classic 'drug rehab'. It is residential and the programs generally consist of a full day of activities and may last from 4 weeks to a year. It is the most intense form of treatment and these facilities are usually equipped to handle additional global problems associated with addiction such as mental health, physical, emotional and spiritual areas.

I am definitely biased. That being said, I would recommend inpatient treatment for anyone with addiction or chemical dependency. The primary advantage is that the evidence is clear that a longer exposure to treatment increases the probability of a good outcome. One disadvantage is that inpatient treatment can be costly and insurance generally does not cover it.
The important thing is to get a proper professional assessment so you can be matched with an appropriate level of care.

Tell your story! Select the most appropriate drug rehab program to increase the chances of positive and lasting treatment results. Selecting the right treatment center is key in getting the results you hope to receive. Take the time to see what options you have in choosing the drug rehab treatment center best suited for your needs and anticipation.

Drug Rehab capable of medical detoxification is a must have qualification.
